After initial installation TempIT will prompt the user to create a password. By default the security for TempIT is disable, apart from a few key features.

1) Suppress Fast Sample Rates:  (Default: enabled)   (Location: options>configuration).

Limits fast sample rates on SL50 series loggers to above 30 seconds, this prevents user accidentally using all the battery life in a few days.

Disable this option to log faster then 30 seconds (compatible loggers only). When changing this setting TempIT will prompt for the password to be entered.

2) Logger Calibration Tab (Location: Logger Issue Screen)

Allows customer to check and amend logger calibration data.  This is only available on TempIT-Pro versions and the user number enter there password.

The Password is held in an encrypted format and is not removed by removing or re-installing TempIT.  The password can be stored in 2 different locations depending on which version of TempIT you are running and have run in the past.

The procedure below details on how to remove it from both locations. Once removed TempIT should prompt to create a new password on startup.

A) Remove  from INI file:

Locate file "TempIT4.ini" in the documents folder inside the following folder "Signatrol - TempIT\Config\"

Full Path = "C:\Users\********\Documents\Signatrol - TempIT\Config\TempIT4.ini"

Replace "********" with your Windows Username.

Open the file with Windows Notepad.

Locate the section "[SEC]"

Then locate line starting with   "SETTING_A="

Remove line "SETTING_A="   (delete the whole line, including anything after the "=" on the same line)

B) Remove from Windows Registry

Open Windows Registry Editor

Under the edit menu, select "Find"

Enter  "SETTINGA" under Find what:

Then check Look at "Values" and check "Match whole string only". (as shown below)

Then select "Find Next"

If the search produces a result. Check the Value appear under the Key: TempIT04 (as shown below), If it does delete the Value "SettingA".

You must repeat the search (by pressed F3 on the keyboard with the Find windows highlighted). Delete any other machining values that match the above criteria.

If no matches are found don't worry, only earlier versions of TempIT saved information to the registry.

C) Restart TempIT

You can now restart TempIT and it should prompt to create a new password.
